47 Financial Analysis Modules From a Single GL Export

Upload a general ledger. Get financial statements, ratio analysis, business valuation, Monte Carlo simulation, AI-driven board packs, and an autonomous financial analyst that navigates it all for you.

Watercolour illustration of financial analysis dashboards radiating from a single click

LedgerIQ started as a simple idea: upload a general ledger export and get useful financial analysis without the spreadsheet gymnastics. A year later, it has grown into something considerably larger. 47 analysis modules. Six business valuation methods with Monte Carlo simulation. An AI companion that autonomously navigates modules, manipulates sliders, runs simulations, and generates board-ready PDF reports. All running client-side in your browser — your data never leaves your machine.

This is what it does and how it works, as of March 2026.

The core: seven financial statements

Every analysis starts with the fundamentals. Upload a GL export from Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, Pandle, or any CSV/Excel file, and LedgerIQ generates:

These are not static tables. Every row is expandable. Every account links to its underlying transactions. The enrichment system auto-classifies accounts into the right financial statement categories using pattern matching across 60+ account types and 12 industry sectors.

Profitability and margin analysis

Six modules dedicated to understanding where profit comes from, where it leaks, and what would happen if things changed:

Margin Analysis

Six tabs: overview, industry benchmarks (30+ sectors), trends, margin forecasting, margin drivers, and what-if scenarios. Interactive sliders for price changes, volume elasticity, and cost adjustments. Pricing power calculator built in.

Break-Even & CVP

Three calculators: target profit, price change impact, and cost reduction scenarios. Automatic fixed/variable cost classification during enrichment. Contribution margin waterfall and profit sensitivity charts.

Expense Structure

Treemap visualisation of expense breakdown. Expense reduction simulator with COGS, OpEx, and revenue growth sliders. Budget variance analysis with modal-based budget entry. Optimisation tab shows cost drivers.

Business Valuation

Six methods (DCF, EBITDA multiple, Revenue multiple, SDE, NAV, Capitalised Earnings). Monte Carlo simulation with 10,000 iterations. Tornado sensitivity analysis. 12-dimension exit readiness score. Sector-specific multiples across 12 industries.

Financial health and solvency

Six modules assess whether the business can pay its bills, service its debt, and survive a downturn:

Operational efficiency

Four modules focused on how well the business converts resources into revenue:

Trends, forecasting, and scenarios

RiQ: the AI that navigates it all

RiQ is not a chatbot sitting next to a dashboard. It is an autonomous AI financial analyst that can control the LedgerIQ interface directly.

Ask RiQ a question like "Can this business afford a 30,000 pound loan?" and it will:

  1. Navigate to the credit risk and lending module
  2. Check the current debt-to-equity ratio and DSCR
  3. Navigate to the debt leverage simulator and adjust the sliders to model the new loan
  4. Check liquidity ratios and cash runway
  5. Navigate to the financial health scoring module for the Z-Score
  6. Synthesise everything into a recommendation with specific terms, risks, and conditions

It does this by programmatically navigating modules, reading DOM state, manipulating sliders and input fields, handling enrichment modals when they appear, and building a multi-turn conversation thread with full context. It can also generate narrative business reports by autonomously touring every module and extracting key findings.

Watch RiQ in action: In our LedgerIQ demo video, RiQ answers three questions autonomously — "Is this business a gem or a problem?", "Can I afford a 30,000 pound loan?", and "How long can I survive without revenue?" — navigating through financial health scoring, debt simulators, and cash runway modelling without a single manual click.

Reporting and export

Three export paths for getting analysis out of the browser and into the hands of clients, directors, or lenders:

The enrichment system

LedgerIQ's intelligence starts before any analysis runs. When you upload a GL, the Universal Enrichment Intelligence engine auto-classifies accounts using 25+ regex patterns for COGS detection, 100+ rules for fixed/variable cost classification, and fuzzy matching with Jaccard similarity for account type identification across 12 industry sectors.

Where auto-detection is uncertain, guided enrichment modals walk you through the decisions: which accounts are COGS, which expenses are fixed vs variable, which liabilities are interest-bearing debt, which assets are current vs fixed. Each modal shows auto-suggestions with confidence indicators. You confirm or override, and the entire analysis suite updates accordingly.

Privacy by architecture

Everything runs client-side. Your general ledger is processed entirely in your browser. No data is transmitted to any server. No data is stored. When you close the tab, it is gone. This is not a privacy policy promise — it is a technical architecture decision. There is no server-side processing to send data to.

The only server calls are to the RiQ AI backend when you explicitly ask RiQ a question, and even then, the conversation context is minimal and session-scoped.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does LedgerIQ work?

Upload a general ledger export (CSV or Excel) from any accounting platform. LedgerIQ processes everything client-side in your browser, auto-detects account structures, classifies accounts via an intelligent enrichment system, and generates 47 analysis modules instantly. Your data never leaves your machine.

What accounting platforms does LedgerIQ work with?

Any platform that exports a general ledger to CSV or Excel — Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, Pandle, FreeAgent, and more. LedgerIQ also connects directly to Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, and Pandle via API for one-click data import.

What is RiQ and what can it do?

RiQ is an autonomous AI financial analyst. It navigates across all 47 modules, manipulates interactive sliders and simulators, answers business questions by cross-referencing multiple modules, generates narrative business reports, and produces PDF board packs. Ask it a question and it builds a guided tour to find the answer.

Can LedgerIQ value a business?

Yes. The Business Valuation module runs six methods (DCF, EBITDA multiple, Revenue multiple, SDE, NAV, Capitalisation of Earnings), 10,000 Monte Carlo simulations, tornado sensitivity analysis, and a 12-dimension exit readiness score with sector-specific multiples across 12 industries.

Is my data safe?

LedgerIQ processes everything client-side. Your GL data never leaves your browser and is never transmitted to any server. When you close the tab, the data is gone. This is a technical architecture decision, not just a privacy policy.

Can I generate client-ready reports?

Yes. PDF board packs with professional branding, AI-generated narrative business reports, and individual module exports. Reports include executive summaries, ratio analysis, risk assessments, and actionable recommendations.
